I was born and raised in the Central Valley of California. After completing undergraduate work in film at Northwestern University, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue an MFA in painting and digital media at the Claremont Colleges. I spent the following decade exhibiting and working in the fine art community of Southern California. In 2014 I moved to New Orleans to work in the local film industry, and have been a scenic painter on numerous feature films and television shows.
My dense, layered collages are about storytelling as much as formal concerns of color, shape and texture. The work is composed of images from vintage magazines, books and found paper ephemera. These found objects are paired with my hand in drawing and painting, resulting in collage works that tend to be both representational and abstract. I currently live and work in Algiers Point where I enjoy the sounds of the city while being a river width away.

Questions & Answers
Describe your art in three words.
kinetic color scissors
Describe yourself in one word.
alive
What do you love the most about creating art in New Orleans? What particular part of your immediate environment, in your neighborhood specifically influences your work?
I live in Algiers Point, which is a laid back neighborhood with many avid gardeners. I enjoy walking my dog as we both take in the sights and smells of all the flowers and the sounds of musicians practicing from their porches. I am greatly influenced by flowers and all their varied hues. Making art in New Orleans is great in this respect because everything is always green and alive and blooms in unexpected moments. (My hibiscus just bloomed in November)
Describe your creative process. Are there any rituals or rites of passage you exercise before you begin a new piece?
Not especially. I usually use just one image to guide the whole of the piece and slowly build up around it.
Where do you draw inspiration?
I draw inspiration from nature, human nature and my fellow artists.
Who are your artistic influences or gurus?
These collages are influenced by artist Jacques Villegle. His work is collage based and sometimes just ripped posters that have been pasted over and over one another in public spaces; think concert posters layered on top of each other . These works have a beautiful cacophony that celebrates the formal qualities of the posters as well as the human intention of printing and hanging it.
In New Orleans, art and music go hand in hand. What type of music, band or song lyric best describes your work?
Street jazz on Royal Street.
Where can we find you when you are not creating art?
Probably walking around the neighborhood observing and drinking coffee.
What is your favorite time of day/day of the week/month of the year?
11AM/Saturday/November
What is something people don’t know about you? A fun fact.
I only listen to R&B radio in the car.
