View from the Batture (Print)

2022

View from the Batture shows one of the last remaining houses built on the opposite side of the New Orleans levee from the city proper. These houses are raised on stilts to keep themselves dry as the level of the river fluctuates through the seasons. This composition positions the viewers back to the river, but the reflection in the windows show the warmth of the sunset that is occurring over it as the landscape darkens into evening.
