Afeni Shakur was an activist, Black Panther, and mother of legendary rapper Tupac Shakur. She did peaceful community work in hospitals and schools, but was put on trial for conspiracy to bomb police and public places in New York city, as part of the Panther 21. However, she represented herself in court, and her questioning secured an admission under oath that a witness and was in fact an undercover police officer, and that he'd infiltrated the group and planned the heinous crimes as a way to disrupt the Panthers. She also went on to advocate for gay rights within the Panthers.
