Follow this artistI am a contemporary Turkish American interdisciplinary artist based in New Orleans. My practice spans drawing, painting, sculpture, and installation, exploring history, collective memory, and the material landscape. My work has been featured at the Venice Biennale, Aqua Art Fair Miami, Art on Paper NYC, the Contemporary Arts Center New Orleans 40th Anniversary Show, Ephemera Obscura, Constructing the Break, the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, Jonathan Ferrara Gallery, and The Onsite Gallery in Toronto, as well as the inaugural and second Bywater Biennial, and Masterpeace—a P.S. Satellite project of Prospect New Orleans. I have been featured in Metropolis Magazine, named to Gambit’s Top 40 Under 40, interviewed on NPR, and received the Architizer A+ Award. I am the Collectors Club artist at the Contemporary Arts Center, where I have also served on the Board of Trustees and as Program Chair. I currently serve on the Board of Directors for the Arts Council of New Orleans as Development Chair. I was the Printmaking Artist in Residence at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts, where I now teach as a faculty member. I am a founding member of Camp Street Studios and The Parlour Gallery, both artist-run spaces in New Orleans, and was formerly a member of the Front Artist Collective. I coordinated the first major Habitat for Humanity Buckminster Fuller Design Science Exhibition in Istanbul. Previously, I worked as a senior designer at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and Kohn Pedersen Fox in New York City. I hold a Master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute. My watercolors are a visual summary of the city’s cultural character from iconic to obscure locations in the city.
