Artist + Adam Newman
Follow this artistAdam Newman (b. Oak Ridge, Tennessee 1984) currently resides in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is a painter and installation artist known for his works created from a hypothetical perspective the artist refers to as “God view” in which he examines man-made reality and our human response through the eyes of God.
Newman’s artistic identity centers on the objective of investigating man-made objects and sociological constructs through an earthy colored palette used to create contemporary landscapes, figures, and thought provoking three dimensional pieces. The artist presents themes of vulnerability, social violence, scarcity, and an idea he calls “10% hope” through imagery that contrasts and personifies natural and synthetic elements within scenes of magical realism. His use of these recurring motifs are enriched by the incorporation of varying degrees of free association. A practice carried on from his earliest work in 2019, which he translated his subconscious into two dimensional realism. Newman has moved on to more relevant content in which he hopes to encourage social and economic change.
Newman’s work has exhibited at venues such as The Emporium in Knoxville, Tennessee; The Edgar Degas House in New Orleans, Louisiana; Studio Gallery in San Francisco, California; and Brea Gallery in Los Angeles. Newman has also installed large scale murals across the southeast in Nashville, Knoxville, and New Orleans.
