HOWDY! I'm Jordan Hefler.

I am a professional photographer, graphic designer, and creative entrepreneur based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. My work is most known for its lifestyle approach, colorful style, and quirky perspective. I have an BFA in Studio Arts with my concentration in Photography from Louisiana State University, and have been doing graphic design and photography for over a decade.

I primarily specialize in editorial and commercial branding photography for creatives, innovative companies, and the music industry.  Some days I might be photographing a commercial campaign, a fashion editorial, a metal concert, or a personal portrait session. I once even did a headshot session with a guinea pig! I also work with clients on graphic design, influencer, and content creation projects. I live by the mantra "Do What You Want" and am passionate about motivating others to pursue their own creative endeavors without boxing themselves in.

MAXIMALIST

What do you love the most about creating art in your community? What particular part of your immediate environment, in your neighborhood specifically influences your work?

I love how much culture and energy there is in Louisiana to capture, especially in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. The energy of Mid-City Baton Rouge is very lively and there is always something going on!

Describe your creative process. Are there any rituals or rites of passage you exercise before you begin a new piece?

When photographing a scene, I try to approach the subject from all angles and perspectives and experiment with lighting. I want to capture as much as I can in the scene to tell a story to the viewer.

Where do you draw inspiration?

Literally everywhere. I am constantly inspired by how colorful our world is and try to capture the magic in everyday life.

Who are your artistic influences or gurus?

William Eggleston, Neil Krug, Jade Purple Brown, Matthew Zach, Cody Guilfoyle, Trixie Mattel

In New Orleans, art and music go hand in hand. What type of music, band or song lyric best describes your work?

DO WHAT YOU WANNA (my tagline is literally "Do What You Want.")

Where can we find you when you are not creating art?

Thrift stores and estate sales!

What is your favorite time of day/day of the week/month of the year?

I am pretty productive in the morning but I love that golden hour time of day when everyone is about to stop working and crack open a beer and enjoy the last few hours of daylight! I also love any excuse to celebrate a theme so Halloween, Mardi Gras, Pride, etc.

What is something people don’t know about you? A fun fact.

I can drive a stick shift!
