Women's rights is always in the forefront of news topics, especially in 2022. I am an abstract artist, but nothing in the world pushes me to spontaneously create out of my comfort zone more than igniting the female rage that currently resides within. I decided to paint a series of nudes, specifically female, which includes femininity in all its glory. Revealing the female body as a form of protest is definitely not a new thing and some even say it is useless in a patriarchal society. However, it was instinctual reaction to today's political climate.
"Power Trip" is the second piece in this series of paintings. This collection is meant to spark conversation about women's issues: misogyny, women in leadership, reproductive rights, gender bias, ageism, and sexualization. Since it is female-directed, the series challenges true gender equality in the face of male-dominated societal norms.
