I am a New Orleans based artist best known for my work in mixed media, collage and abstract art. Born and raised in Louisiana, I have been a nurse for most of my life. Caring for and connecting with people remain central to my purpose. While I will always remain a nurse at heart, I decided to follow my calling as an artist. My textured mixed media pieces are a homage to the complex beauty found in nature. I take inspiration from the everyday, often working with found materials and acrylic paint. My work has an organic botanical feel- at times a reflection of a state of mind that comes to life upon creating.

Describe your art in three words.
Distinctive, vibrant, and organic
Describe yourself in one word.
What do you love the most about creating art in your community? What particular part of your immediate environment, in your neighborhood specifically influences your work?
The connection and energetic exchange
Depends on what catches my eye while taking a stroll, our indigenous birds, a dried magnolia pod, a serrated camellia leaf, fungus on a twig, patterns in nature and architecture....
Describe your creative process. Are there any rituals or rites of passage you exercise before you begin a new piece?
It is different every time and varies, if I am painting, I may start with a word, quote or symbols. If I am collaging, I may cover the entire surface first or just dive in!
