Ross Lynn Foundation sponsored a plein air competition for Lincoln and Red River Parishes. I visited many sites before I came back to this bridge. This painting won first prize.

Follow this artistIt’s difficult to say where creativity comes from. I’m trying to think about how I connect and I guess it’s mostly from looking and seeing things that visually excite me. All the elements: shape, color etc. are eye catching. Look twice…
I don’t have an art degree but have given myself a “looking degree.” The most important thing to me is to be closely attuned to watching, looking, seeing.
Creativity is a relationship, like a friend, and must be cultivated and held close to your heart through easy times and difficulty. Through work we know each other well...
My work has evolved and also changes often. I’m an experimenter and allow myself to explore and evolve freely. I’m not boxed in to a genre or signature style. Learning through doing is the most important to me. Mixed media collage is what is exciting me currently, but I’m always asking, “what next?”
I’ve studied studio art at Louisiana Tech, PAFA, Vermont Studio Center, and numerous workshop experiences. Stuart Shills, Ken Kewley, and Catherine Kehoe are some of my favorite workshop experiences.
