I am a New Orleans based artist and photographer. In 2012, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art with an emphasis on painting from the University of New Orleans. My work centers on surreal portraiture in which the contrast between real and surreal is confronted through a lens of bold imagery and hypnagogic colors. The subjects, seemingly existing in parallel worlds, tempt the viewer to stay and interpret their own projections. The goal is to invoke an emotional response with contemporary composition, and modern surrealism. It is important for me record the subjects and capture not only their likeness, but also a sense of their personality and the time they live in. Portraiture is a calling I will never fully understand, but with each piece I glean fresh motives.

Describe your art in three words.
Art, Design, Photography
Describe yourself in one word.
What do you love the most about creating art in New Orleans?
Theres magic everywhere here. I love being inspired by the colors, sounds and sights of this unique city.
Describe your creative process. Are there any rituals or rites of passage you exercise before you begin a new piece?
In regards to painting, ideally I'll have a chance to clean the studio, get the diffuser going and maybe light a candle before starting something new.
Where do you draw inspiration?
People, emotions, nature, architecture and the small moments of beauty often overlooked.
In New Orleans, art and music go hand in hand. What type of music, band or song lyric best describes your work?
I'm not sure any music could adequately describe every facet of what I do, but lately I've been drawn to more instrumental music and catching jazz at Capulet always proves inspirational.
Where can we find you when you are not creating art?
As a designer, artist and photographer my whole life revolves around creating and capturing the beauty. In some ways I'm always creating art.
What is your favorite time of day/day of the week/month of the year?
My favorite month is October, feel free to convince me otherwise.
What is something people don’t know about you? A fun fact.
I am an extremely efficient judge of character. It's kind of my superpower.
