My art is not only a reflection of my past or present, but a combination of both. The days of old in rural Belcher, Louisiana, my college days, and life experiences along the way are brought to life through my art. Art has given me the opportunity to share this journey on paper and canvas. Although you will see some elements that are undeniably personal for me, so much of it has more to do with LIFE. I encourage you to travel along with me. My hope is that you make a personal connection that also becomes universal - in a very authentic way. Expressing my “heart” revolves around not being specific to any particular style. I believe that the many facets of my visuals represent the “multi-creative” soul that I am... evolving constantly. Being a visual artist, graphic designer, writer, and musician, my artistic expression moves into many arenas. Like the aforementioned creative mediums I enjoy, my art will reflect a hint of these various creative disciplines... all done from my heart. With these visual representations of color and textures, it is my hope that you see something in these works that will cause you to stop for a moment to... Remember. Dream. Hope. Reminisce... then Dream again.

Evolving.

What do you love the most about creating art in your community? What particular part of your immediate environment, in your neighborhood specifically influences your work?

I get an opportunity to create a body of work that speaks to the "then and now".  My contrasting styles give me a platform that opens the chance to tell a story while giving the community an opportunity to learn. My teacher in junior high school introduced me to abstract, and art teacher in high school influenced my realism works. They both shaped how I translate my life's experiences in the visual arts space.

Describe your creative process. Are there any rituals or rites of passage you exercise before you begin a new piece?

Because my works are so different, the story behind them fluctuates too... from an interpretive place to actual my life's experiences. Music is always present as I create. Jazz pushes my abstract works, but worship music usually is where my more nostalgic pieces evolve from. But if I am not sure about the direction, R&B is where I land. This is my in between music.

Where do you draw inspiration?

I am influenced by all things around me. Being a musician (drummer) drives me to see and hear things differently. Everything from other artists to shapes in a room full of art or people can become how I process my artistic transfer to canvas or another substrate. 

Who are your artistic influences or gurus?

Other living artists are my biggest influencers. There are too many to name. I enjoy the history or art, but art is not made for a box that represents one style. 

In New Orleans, art and music go hand in hand. What type of music, band or song lyric best describes your work?

Because I have played almost every genre of music, I have no one particular style that I must listen to.  From Luther Vandross, Aretha Franklin, and Gregory Porter to Yanni, Mozart, Elevation Worship, and other orchestral music professionals, I LOVE IT ALL!

Where can we find you when you are not creating art?

When there isn't a brush in hand, my spare time is out losing golf balls with friends. I enjoy playing with the worship team too. The drum cage allows me to separate myself from the issues of day-to-day challenges from moving from one space to another.

What is your favorite time of day/day of the week/month of the year?

I have no special time of day or year. Because I try to be "the eternal optimist", I believe everyday is an opportunity to serve in some capacity to encourage others.

What is something people don’t know about you? A fun fact.

Most people don't know how my motorcycle wreck actually wasn't as tragic as it seemed at the time. I am much more grateful now for LIFE. The blessing was in the lesson.
