Questions & Answers
Describe your art in three words.
Expressive, colorful, skillful
Describe yourself in one word.
Introspective
What do you love the most about creating art in your community? What particular part of your immediate environment, in your neighborhood specifically influences your work?
I love that art allows me to be a witness to life around me and lets me mirror my vision of the beauty I see back to the world. I always think of my art as an experience of one moment. There is a similarity in why I love this community. It's happy to be here and alive and it doesn't have to be perfect as long as it is genuine.
Describe your creative process. Are there any rituals or rites of passage you exercise before you begin a new piece?
I often put the paint on the canvas fast, but of course, the painting is sometimes created for days in moments of introspection and observation.
Where do you draw inspiration?
I try to connect to an inspired place in me and then allow life to surprise me by presenting me with inspiring sights that match my own sense of flow and inspiration.
Who are your artistic influences or gurus?
For a long time (and now, too) I was in love with Russian painters that emerged in the 1920s. A post-impressionist era is inspiring to me, although I do love impressionists as well.
Where can we find you when you are not creating art?
At my writing desk. I write and teach about spirituality in a time when I am not painting. I am also a mom of three girls, so probably at a club volleyball game :)
What is your favorite time of day/day of the week/month of the year?
My favorite time of the day is sunrise. This is when I do my best thinking. My favorite time of the year is spring.
What is something people don’t know about you? A fun fact.
Hmm... I am a fairly open book. It's hard to surprise people with anything that they don't know. I am the author of a book called "I Am: A Guide To Transforming Reality And Creating The Life You Want". The book is about consciousness and what it takes to be truly creative. (It is not about art, but it applies to art)
