This piece is part of a larger body of work which explores the darker side of New Orleans. These mixed media pieces utilize traditional painting methods as well as tangible documentation from criminal investigations. The imagery of the omnipresent NOPD car symbolizes police investigations which overshadow criminal activity which is reflected by the medium. In this series, the vintage model Chevrolet Caprice is an ode to policing of the late 70s and early 80s when the profession was idolized and appreciated. Each of these works is biographical in that the artist took a large role in each of the investigations.
Artist + Charles Hoffacker
Follow this artistCharles Beau Hoffacker is an artist who lives and shows his art in New Orleans. During the day, he paints and reflects on his night job as a policeman. Try as he might to separate the two; they inevitably cross and influence one another. His work has been featured in Vice magazine, Ozy magazine, and several news publications and media. It is his goal to transfer his efforts full time into creating art. Society can be better served through ideas translated through paint.
