This piece was created for the Louisiana Department of Health's Bring Back Louisiana initiative, a bold grassroots campaign to bring COVID-19 vaccines to communities of concern and bring back the Louisiana we know and love.

Follow this artistI am a born native of Louisiana.
Inspired by jazz and blues, New Orleans architecture, and love for seafood, I wanted to create a world that is both playful and colorful. Combining these passions together, I created seafood characters acting as if they are people. They are portrayed playing zydeco from the streets of New Orleans to the bayou. This is how RedBean the crawfish was created.
In most of my paintings, RedBean is engaging in traditional Louisiana activities: as a waiter at Cafe Du Monde, driving a carriage through New Orleans and playing Zydeco on the bayou. My award-winning art has attracted collectors throughout the country and the world, and is a festival poster favorite.
Locally, my characters “RedBean” the crawfish and “Gumbo” the crab are mascots for Louisiana cajun culture. My character “RedBean” can be spotted all over the North Shore as large, colorful crawfish statues and in murals.
My desire as an artist is to continue searching for new ways to bring imagination into RedBean’s cajun world.
