I am a renowned artist who doesn’t just embrace the multi-culture of Southern Louisiana; I share it with others and help them appreciate the unique lifestyle enjoyed in this vibrant corner of the world. My images often adorn books, CD’s, magazines, posters, apparel, and television programs to promote Louisiana, United States, and Europe in advertising campaigns. My signature series and most popular body of work is the Little Red Tricycle, which portrays a red tricycle that a little Creole girl pedals with gusto down a country lane. It’s an expression of me, but when others see it they tell me that they see themselves in the paintings. In my commissioned art works you will find a small tricycle image next to my signature Banks. This truly identifies my trademark as the tricycle. My musical series often comes from the region’s Jazz, Cajun and Zydeco’s music, embodied in two series of paintings representing those visceral musical genres. The emotional energy flowing from the music influences the colors in my artwork. I have often been told by admires, they can feel the music in the brushstrokes. My art journey doesn’t stop there; I have seven different series. I am also an art community activist by reaching back to share my art knowledge to special education students as an Art Instructor. I wrote and illustrated a children’s book called The Journey of Little Red Tricycle “Zoë meets Gumbo”.
